भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा (आईएएस) के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी राजीव गाबा ने 31 अगस्त, 2017 को केंद्रीय गृह सचिव के रूप में पदभार ग्रहण किया। मंत्रालय ने जारी बयान में कहा कि 1982 बैच के झारखंड कैडर के अधिकारी हैं। उन्होंने राजीव महर्षि का स्थान लिया है। महर्षि वर्ष 1978 बैच के राजस्थान कैडर के भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा (आईएएस) के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी हैं। महर्षि का कार्यकाल 30 अगस्त 2017 को समाप्त हुआ।

  • भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा (आईएएस) के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी राजीव गाबा निवर्तमान में विशेष ड्यूटी पर तैनात अधिकारी के तौर पर गृह मंत्रालय से जुड़े थे।
  • श्री गौबा नई गृह सचिव के रूप में नियुक्ति के बाद 27 जून को गृह मंत्रालय में विशेष ड्यूटी (ओएसडी) के रूप में गृह मंत्रालय में शामिल हो गए हैं।
  • इससे पहले राजीव गाबा शहरी विकास मंत्रालय में सचिव पद पर कार्यरत थे।   
  • वर्ष 1959 में पंजाब में जन्मे गाबा ने भौतिकी विज्ञान से स्नातक किया है।
  • राजीव गाबा झारखंड के मुख्य सचिव के अतिरिक्त केंद्र में गृह, रक्षा, पर्यावरण, वन मंत्रालय और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स एवं सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय में कार्यरत रहे हैं।
  • गाबा ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष (आईएमएफ) में चार वर्षो तक भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया है।

Senior IAS officer Rajiv Gauba took charge as the Union Home Secretary on August 31, 2017. The Ministry said in the statement that 1982 batch of Jharkhand cadre is an officer. He has replaced Rajiv Maharishi. Maharishi is senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Rajasthan Cadre of 1978 batch. Maharishi's tenure ends on August 30, 2017.
